Mutual Phase Lock

Since 2016 I’ve been using a portable scanner as a main instrument to document the found world at a surface-level, searching for a master rhythm in my surroundings through layering image samples.
Mutual phase locking is a form of entrainment. In physics, entrainment refers to the process whereby two interacting oscillating systems assume the same period.
Entrainment may also refer to:
· Brainwave entrainment, the practice of entraining one's brainwaves to a desired frequency
· In biomusicology, the synchronization of organisms to an external rhythm
· In engineering, the entrapment of one substance by another substance
· In hydrodynamics, the movement of one fluid by another
· In physical geography, the process by which surface sediment is incorporated into a fluid flow
· Lexical entrainment, the process in conversational linguistics of the subject adopting the terms of their interlocutor
